About me
Rabbi Eliana Fischel believes that Judaism can and should elevate every aspect of our lives, from how we pray to how we relate to others. As an Associate Rabbi at Washington Hebrew Congregation (WHC), Rabbi Fischel leads 2239, one of the largest Reform 20/30s communities in the country. Recently, Rabbi Fischel has been cultivating meaning for expectant moms and new families through a new initiative entitled, “First Years”. She is a lover of learning who aims to bring Judaism into our everyday lives through such subjects as Judaism, Gender, & Sexuality and Experiential Theology. Rabbi Fischel creates community through social justice as the liaison for the LGBTQ Affinity Group and SEA Change, WHC’s community organizing body. A native of Scarsdale, NY, Rabbi Fischel was ordained by Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in 2018 and received a BA in Dance and in Psychology, as well as a Certificate in Public Policy and Community Action, from Connecticut College in 2011. When Rabbi Fischel is not at WHC, she is cuddling with her adorable children, Ezra & Rebecca; laughing with her rabbi-husband, Eric Abbott; or cooking something delicious, particularly creative challah inventions.
